The second T20I between Bangladesh and New Zealand in Chattogram was washed out without a ball being bowled due to incessant rain. As forecast, heavy showers lashed the stadium at the scheduled toss time and continued largely unabated, leaving the match officials with little choice.

There was brief hope around 2 PM local time when the rain appeared to ease, but it soon intensified again. Overs began to be reduced from 3.10 PM, with a five-over-a-side contest possible if play had started by 5.16 PM. However, the umpires did not wait that long and called the match off at 4.19 PM, with rain still falling.

The no-result means Bangladesh, who won the opening game, cannot lose the series. The third and final T20I will be played on Saturday (May 2) in Dhaka.
