Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 after sustaining a fracture to his right foot. CSK confirmed on their social media channels that the 28-year-old picked up the injury during the home game against Mumbai Indians on Saturday (May 2) - the very match in which he made his IPL debut.
While the exact cause of the fracture remains unclear, Ghosh did complete a diving catch early in the game to dismiss Will Jacks. He also tumbled in his follow-through after delivering his first ball, to Naman Dhir.
Head coach Stephen Fleming had referenced the injury in his post-match press conference. "His improvement in recent weeks has been noticeable. He has been training really well at our academy sessions. We use two grounds, and he's been very impressive. It's disappointing that he got injured towards the end. The other point is that he can bat, and bat well, which is an area of big improvement. So he can genuinely be called an all-rounder," Fleming said.
Ghosh's injury further deepens what has been an injury-laden campaign for the five-time champions. They lost their lead Indian seamer Khaleel Ahmed and star batter Ayush Mhatre over the last two weeks. They had already been without Nathan Ellis before the start of the season, while his replacement, Spencer Johnson, was unavailable until recently due to an injury of his own. CSK have also been without their talisman MS Dhoni since the start of the season, with the former captain battling a calf strain.
CSK replaced Mhatre with Akash Madhwal but are yet to name a replacement for Khaleel Ahmed. A decision on Ghosh's replacement is expected in due course.
