Bangladesh fast bowler Rubel Hossain announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. The 36-year old pacer's career was defined by raw pace. In an emotional message on Facebook, the pacer confirmed the decision saying that the national jersey would always remain close to his heart.

"The national team is my emotion, but there comes a time to say goodbye," Rubel wrote on Wednesday.

He added that while his international journey has ended, he intends to continue playing domestic cricket. Rubel thanked his family, friends, media professionals and fans, expressing hope for their continued support in the next phase of his career.

The right-arm pacer, who played his final series against New Zealand in 2021, finished his career with 36 Test wickets, 129 ODI scalps and 28 dismissals in T20Is. The right-arm quick was last seen playing for Prime Bank Cricket Club in 2024 domestic cricket.
