Bangladesh's Ministry of Youth and Sports has formed a three-member inquiry committee to investigate why the national cricket team withdrew from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

Bangladesh decided not to take part in the T20 World Cup citing security concerns in India after Kolkata Knight Riders released Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL 2026 squad and later asked the ICC to move Bangladesh's matches to Sri Lanka.

ICC did not entertain the request of BCB and eventually replaced them with Scotland for the global tournament

Bangladesh state minister for youth and sports Aminul Haque earlier @L0$ that they will form an investigation committee to find out whether skipping the ICC Twenty20 World Cup was a diplomatic failure.

According to an official government order dated May 10, 2026, former Additional Secretary Dr. A.K.M. Oli Ullah will convene the three-member committee that includes former captain and current chief selector Habibul Bashar Sumon and Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Faisal Dastagir as members.

The government asked the panel to submit its report within 15 working days.

"We will try to start working as soon as possible. And hopefully we will submit our findings in 15 working days," Oli Ullah told reporters on Monday.
